Born in Tokyo, Japan, Yukari Hotta lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. She holds a Master Degree in furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy, School of Design. Hotta’s work leads to the approach of hand-craft and challenges the perception of beauty. She uses her hands throughout the crafting process to achieve a hand-finished appearance on the surface of her creations. She creates each piece with a slow-moving hand technique building. Hotta’s work concentrates on creating objects from sculptural works to practical everyday items centred around ceramic and textiles.
